動物遺傳學報道免疫遺傳學、分子遺傳學和經濟上重要的家養動物功能基因組學的前沿研究。發表的論文包括基因和蛋白質水平的變異研究、基因、性狀和qtl的定位、基因和性狀之間的關系、遺傳多樣性、與表型或遺傳變異相關的基因或蛋白質表達的表征和控制。該雜志出版全篇文章，簡短的交流和簡短的筆記，以及委托和提交對動物遺傳學讀者感興趣的問題的微型評論。

Animal Genetics reports frontline research on immunogenetics, molecular genetics and functional genomics of economically important and domesticated animals. Publications include the study of variability at gene and protein levels, mapping of genes, traits and QTLs, associations between genes and traits, genetic diversity, and characterization of gene or protein expression and control related to phenotypic or genetic variation.The journal publishes full-length articles, short communications and brief notes, as well as commissioned and submitted mini-reviews on issues of interest to Animal Genetics readers.
